The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is booking P337 million for the construction of a “world-class” bridge in Siargao, said to not only improve traffic but also impress tourists with its “aesthetics.”
In a statement, DPWH said the 348-lineal meter bridge will link the Catangnan and Cabitoonan villages of General Luna town, reducing travel time by providing an alternative to the 18-kilometer Dapa-General Luna Road and roads along of Sta. Cruz, Sta. Fe and Libertad.
“Construction activities are going smoothly on Phase 2 covering most part or 198-lineal meters of Catangnan-Cabitoonan Bridge. If weather permits, we aim to finish this segment by 2019 while we simultaneously work on the 75-lineal meter portion under Phase 3,” DPWH Region 13 Director Pol M. delos Santos was quoted as saying. — Denise A.
