GOVERNMENT health workers at the frontline of the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) will get an additional 25% to double their monthly salary during the lockdown period.
The Palace on Monday released Administrative Order No. 28, which grants a special risk allowance (SRA) to public sector health workers during the enhanced community quarantine period.
“National government agencies (NGAs), government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and LGUs are authorized to grant a one-time COVID-19 SRA, equivalent to a maximum of 25% of monthly basic salary/pay, to Public Health Workers (PHWs) who have great exposure to health risks and physical hardships in the line of duty, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic,” states the order signed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte on April 6.
The SRA will be computed based on the number of days that the health worker reported to work during the lockdown period in Luzon, which started March 17.
The incentive will be 25% for those who worked for three to seven days; 50% for eight to 12 days; 75% for 13 to 17 days; and 100% for at least 18 days. — Gillian M. Cortez
