A LOW pressure area spotted 1,050 kilometers east-northeast of Mindanao as of Wednesday morning could develop into the 13th typhoon to enter the country this year. In the 11 a.m. Wednesday update of weather bureau PAGASA, Weather Specialist Loriedin De La Cruz said they are closely monitoring the disturbance, which could become a tropical depression “in the coming days” and would then be named Marilyn. Meanwhile, typhoon Liwayway in the northeast slowed down, prolonging its stay in the Philippine area. It is expected to exit the country today in the afternoon or evening. On Thursday and Friday, PAGASA said the trough of Liwayway and the southwest monsoon will bring light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the Ilocos provinces.
