DAVAO CITY’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund Investment Plan (CDRRMFIP) for 2019 has been approved with an allocation of about P436 million. Councilor Danilo C. Dayanghirang, sponsor of the CDRRMFIP that was presented to the council, said the budget will be used for disaster mitigation projects as well as rehabilitation efforts. “We need the budget to fund the project of our DRRM Office,” he said. Among these projects are the installation of LED screens along major roads and the purchase of radio airtime for information dissemination. This year’s CDRRMFIP is part of the five-year program that started two years ago. Mr. Dayanghirang said about 70% of the CDRRMFIP fund, which is part of the city’s P8.8 billion budget this year, will be for quick response and the remainder will be for prevention, mitigation, and preparedness. — Carmelito Q.
