AIRASIA Philippines has achieved about 90% of its seat target, the low-cost carrier said, adding that it expects to reach the target by yearend.

In a media release on Tuesday, AirAsia said as of end-October, it sold 90% of its seat target, while also reaching an average load factor of 92%.

“AirAsia Philippines’ target is expected to surpass its 2022 performance up by 60.07% positive difference with Filipinos encouraged to travel to various domestic and international destinations in time for the holiday season,” the company said.

AirAsia added that as the holiday season approaches when travel demand usually surges, the Manila International Airport Authority expects 125,000 daily passengers for December until early January next year.

“Historically, guests, especially those traveling in groups such as families and groups of friends, book their flights 30 to 45 days earlier than their target travel dates,” AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Ricardo P. Isla said.

As of this month, AirAsia said that about 150,000 seats have already been booked for the Dec.15-31 travel period.

“While this is still 50% of last year’s booking for the same period, we are confident AirAsia Philippines will surpass this, especially with guests’ renewed hunger for even more travel experiences,” the company said.

In an earlier statement, the company said that it was targeting to sell half a million seats by the fourth quarter of this year. — Ashley Erika O. Jose
