KIDZ REPUBLIC, a company that specializes in family entertainment centers in the country, has expanded its roster of attraction with the recent launch of Wizards Gallery.

An “experiential and multimedia attraction” that is located at the ground floor of the Main Building of SM Mall of Asia, Wizards Gallery offers a new concept in local thematic family entertainment geared towards people who crave a different kind of excitement, like the thrill of fighting a monster with the use of a magic wand.

The new attraction deviates from the typical horror houses found locally, Kidz Republic said, as it employs state-of-the-art technology to power the robotic phantoms, ghouls and monsters found inside it.

“This is a first in Asia and the owners really gave careful thought to it as far as the things that go in it,” said Lani Ligot, Operations and Marketing consultant for Kidz Republic, in an interview.

“We are very enthusiastic of the potential of the concept of Wizards Gallery. While we do have lazer play areas here, they do not have a theme like this one. It is something that should excite kids and families,” she added.

THE SHOOTING GALLERY

FEATURES
Guests to Wizards Gallery will have three wizardy experiences to enjoy.

The first one is the Shooting Gallery which tests one’s shooting speed. It lets players target various hiding places of dragons, spiders, witches and wizards, all in one room, for a minute.

Second is the Wizard’s Duel that sees two players “casting spells” against each other by hitting certain targets and earning points. The targets trigger different effects that players have to “hurdle” like earthquakes, air blasts, a snake attack and even mini explosions.

The third — and touted as the centerpiece of the attraction — is the Interactive Shooting Walk-Through, which can be experienced individually, with a partner, or as a team. Inspired by scenes from the Harry Potter movie series, guests get to make brooms fly, dragons roar, as well as weave through dark chambers filled with pop-out ghouls, stand-up skeletons and other creatures of the underworld, with a flick of a wand.

A DRAGON’s head can be found in one of the chambers.

The fee for the entire experience is P250. But if guests only want to try a particular area of the gallery, they may also do so.

“This is an experiential and multimedia attraction. It provides a 3-D experience which will engage all of your senses. You have shooting, you can see 3-D animatronics. So it’s all in,” said Ms. Ligot.

She added that Wizards Gallery is open to adults and kids ages seven and up and will be great for parties and team-building activities.

FUN WHILE IN THE MALL
Started in 2006, Kidz Republic has been offering themed amusement centers in various SM Malls.

“At that time, we wanted a place where kids can have fun in the mall,” said Kidz Republic owner Gigi Chua in explaining the inspiration that gave rise to their group.

Among the attractions in their roster are Cosmic Kidz and Tiny Town, which offer mazes, tubes, hanging bridges, and air cannons, among others, for little kids, as well as the Pirates Quest attraction at SM Megamall where kids and adults can bask in a pirate-themed setting.

“Kidz Republic is really an entertainment center that provides play and learn experience. Wizards Gallery complements and is in synch with what the company is all about. It is a one-stop place wherein everybody can enjoy,” Ms. Ligot said.
