Chinese artist Yang Ding Xian’s first exhibition in the Philippines, East Wind Rhapsody, will be on view from Oct. 22 to Nov. 10 at the Mezzanine level of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.
Yellow Door Gallery is running an exhibit titled Carlos at the Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center in Makati City until Oct. 23.
The 6th solo exhibition of Anthony Panugao and his first with Kulay-Diwa Gallery, Whimsy, Wind and Wisdom, features more that 10 of his recent works and a mural measuring 7×11 feet. The exhibit runs until Nov. 12.
ArtInformal presents Bookworks by Ringo Bunoan until Nov. 12 at the Main Gallery. In this exhibit she explores the obvious but undetected “materiality” of books. Also on view at the same time will be Mark Valenzuela’s exhibit Violently at The Big Room and The Inner Room of the gallery. The gallery is located at 277 Connecticut St., Mandaluyong City.
Organized in cooperation with Art Cube, the BenCab Museum in Baguio presents DisneyTopia by Guerrero Z. Habulan, an exhibit that interrogates the acceptance of the “cultural properties” of the West. Museum visitors can also view Old Master Prints at the Print Gallery, featuring 16th to 18th century etchings and engravings by Rembrandt, Goya, Dürer, et al. Both exhibitions will be on view until Dec. 4.
Body & Soul, a one-woman show featuring the mosaic art of Maria Isabel Lopez, runs until Nov. 2 at Passions Gallery at SM Megamall.
Unfamiliar Landscapes, a sequel to Jinggoy Buensuceso’s exhibit Rebellion in 2014, is a focus on mapping the geography of things in time. It runs until Oct. 30 at Galleria Duemila in Pasay City.
Vinyl on Vinyl Gallery presents Diviserye, an exhibit on Jobert Cruz’s visual narration of how he perceive the things he encountered every day as he was growing up in Divisoria.
West Gallery has four exhibits which are ongoing until Oct. 22: Tatong Recheta Torres’ 001SNTE:ISOD, 2012 0XXSNTE:ISOD, Constantino Zicarelli’s Dear Father, Show Me The Stars. Dear Mother, Show Me How Far, Allan Balisi’s Room Full of Elephants, and Dina Gadia’s Never Landscape.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines presents Linya by Doctor Karayom at Pasilyo Vicente Manansala (2F Hallway Gallery) until Nov. 13. Meanwhile, Mars Ravelo Reinterpreted, an exhibit of works by 13 visual artists curated by Dean Zuberi Africa, is on view at the Bulwagang Juan Luna (Main Gallery) and Pasilyo Guillermo Tolentino (3F Hallway Gallery) of the CCP. Exhibit runs until Nov. 13.
UP Vargas Museum presents A Matter of Contemplation and Discontent, a selection of influential artists from Romania, consisting of unique pieces of art created between the 1980s and the 1990s in various media — from drawing to photography and video. The exhibition features artists Alexandru Antik, Sándor Bartha, Geta Brătescu, Teodor Graur, Ion Grigorescu, Peter Jacobi, Dan Mihaltianu, Dan Perjovschi, Lia Perjovschi, Mircea Stănescu, Sorin Vreme and curator Anca Verona Mihuleţ. It runs until Nov. 19 at 1F Galleries, UP Vargas Museum.
The Yuchengco Museum, in partnership with Samsung Culture Connect and Castrillo Legacy Art Studio presents Eduardo Castrillo @ 50: Moving the Legacy Forward until Nov. 24. Meanwhile, Mexican Modernity: 20th Century Paintings from the Zapanta Mexican Art Collection is on view until Nov. 24. at the Yuchengco Museum, RCBC Plaza, in Makati City.
Blanc Gallery presents three exhibits until Oct. 29: Cocoy Lumbao’s New Video, Mawen Ong’s Homage to Trap, and Pardo de Leon’s In-Betweenness. Blanc is located at 145 Katipunan Ave., Quezon City.
Studio 1616 artists Lendl Arvin, Kiko Urquiola, and Gian Miroe Surban come together in a painting exhibition titled Immerse, at Secret Fresh Gallery in Ronac Art Center, San Juan, Greenhills.
Vinyl on Vinyl has three ongoing exhibits: Brown Dada by Manuel Ocampo, Argie Bandoy, Bjorn Calleja, Jigger Cruz, Don Dalmacio, Neil Dela Cruz, Beejay Esber, Edric Go, Jayson Oliveria, Joel Quinones; Kamundo by Blic; and Pleated Reveries by Reynold dela Cruz.
Raymundo “Ray” Albano’s career is the subject of A Time to Unlearn, at the Sphere section of the Metropolitan Museum of the Philippines’ permanent exhibit Philippine Contemporary Art: To Scale the Past and the Possible. The Met is located at the Bangko Sentral Compound, Roxas Blvd., Malate, Manila.

The UP Playwrights’ Theater presents Distrito De Molo: Three one-act plays by Leonicio P. Deriada, on Oct. 21-23, 26-30, at the Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater, Palma Hall, UP Diliman, Quezon City. There will be Filipino and English performances. Directed by Tony Mabesa, it stars, among others, Adriana Agcaoili, Candy Pangilinan, Frances Makil-Ignacio, Stella Canete-Mendoza, and Leo Rialp. The first play, Tres Hermanas de Molo, is set in the 1950s and revolves around the post-war lives of the wealthy Locsin sisters. The second play, Atlas de Molo, set in contemporary time, is about newlyweds who return to their ancestral home where a garden statue comes to life. To mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Russia, and as part of the Russia-ASEAN Year of Culture, the Days of Russian Culture in the Philippines Festival will run from Oct. 20 to 23 in various venues in Manila. Some of the most prominent Russian performers and soloists will be performing during the festival including the State Academic Russian Folk Ensemble “Russia,” soprano Natalya Dmitrievskaya, pianist Nikolai Medvedev, and bass singer Dmitri Grigoriev. On Oct. 20, there will be a piano master class at 10 a.m. at the UST Conservatory of Music, and a voice master class at 11 a.m. at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). There will be a gala performance on Oct. 21, 7:30 p.m. at the CCP Little Theater, and a performance on Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m., at the Rizal Open-Air Auditorium at the Luneta Park in Manila.

Ballet Philippines brings back Jose Rizal’s famous novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, to the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ main stage with a double bill of Crisostomo Ibarra and Simoun. The Third World Studies Center will hold a public lecture, “Constitution Re-writing: Theory and Practice” by Dr. Kimana Zulueta-Fülscher of International IDEA on Oct. 21, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Ambion Room, College of Law, Malcolm Hall, University of the Philippines-Diliman. During the forum, Dr. Zulueta-Fülscher will introduce A Practical Guide to Constitution Building (2011) as well as the ConstitutionNet Web site where users can find all knowledge resources produced by International IDEA dealing with design-related issues such as federalism, bicameralism, constitutional assessment, constitutional reform processes and the role of political parties, among many others. This public forum is organized by the UP Department of Political Science and the UP Law Center Institute of Government and Law Reform and co-sponsored by the UP Third World Studies Center.
