THEATER LOVERS are in for a treat as two major musicals are opening this weekend.

Opening today are the touring production of Sister Act, the Broadway musical based on the Whoopi Goldberg movie about a nightclub performer on the lam who hides out in a convent, and the Atlantis production of the Tony-winning Broadway and West End hit Kinky Boots. With a book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, Bobby Garcia directs this tale of Charlie, a struggling shoe factory owner, and Lola, a fabulous entertainer with a wildly exciting idea. Kinky Boots will have performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., from June 30 to July 23, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Ayala Ave., cor. Gil Puyat Ave. Makati City. Tickets to the show range in price from ₱2,090 to ₱4,180. Meanwhile, Sister Act will have a limited run from June 29 to July 9, at The Theatre at Solaire, Solaire Resort & Casino, 1 Aseana Ave., Entertainment City, Parañaque City. Tickets range in price from ₱1,588.50 to ₱6,883.50. Tickets to both shows are available through TicketWorld.
