THE SECOND batch of nine Japanese nationals wanted for telecommunications fraud were deported on Wednesday, the Bureau of Immigration said. The first batch was deported on February 24. They are part of the 36 Japanese who were arrested in November last year for voice phishing operations that victimize Japanese citizens. They have duped their victims of more than 2 billion yen or more than US$18 million. The schedule for deportation of the remaining fraudsters have yet to be finalized, Commissioner Jaime H. Morente said. — Vann Marlo M. Villegas
