Iloilo City aims for fully digitized business permit transactions by 2020
THE ILOILO City hall is aiming to automate transactions by 2020, including the payment for business permits and other fees. Business Process and Licensing Office (BPLO) head Norman F. Tabud said the Information Technology Department has already started the automation process for the issuance of permits. “We have started to digitize our documents so that people can access it easier. We are also arranging the online payment for our taxes and fees,” he said in an interview on the sidelines of the annual Tax Forum last week. He also said a Business One-Stop Shop will be set up inside the City Hall next year for easier and faster transactions for building permits and certificates of occupancy. During the forum, barangay officials, consultancy firms, business establishments and other stakeholders were informed of the processing and licensing system for business permits. Mr. Tabud said they see the move towards automation helping improve revenues for the city. As of September this year, a total of 15,882 business permits were issued by the BPLO, of which 1,763 are new businesses. — Emme Rose S. Santiagudo
