PRESIDENT Rodrigo R. Duterte has issued a proclamation designating the VistaHub BPO Molino in Bacoor City, Cavite as a special economic zone. Proclamation No. 655, signed on Jan. 16, cites the recommendation of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority’s (PEZA) Board of Directors. Under the implementing rules and regulations of Republic Act of No. 7916 or the Special Economic Zone Act of 1995, PEZA needs to secure a presidential proclamation before officially creating an ecozone.
