Chinese navy ships, the Wu Hu and Han Dan with replenishment ship Dong Ping Hu, arrived at the South Harbor in Manila on Thursday, Jan. 17, for a four-day goodwill visit. The China People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) contingent was welcomed by Philippine Navy officers and members of the Filipino-Chinese community. PLAN Rear Admiral Xu Haihua, said in his speech at the welcome ceremony, “We have elevated our relationship to one of comprehensive strategic cooperation, opening a new chapter for China-Philippine relationship. I believe that we come here with peace, friendship and a better vision of common development and shared prosperity…” This is the second visit of PLAN ships under President Rodrigo R. Duterte, with the first in April 2017 in Davao City, the President’s hometown.
