Cycling group, QC gov’t team up for ‘serious’ bicycle-friendly city
THE QUEZON City (QC) government and the National Bicycle Organization launched Sunday, May 27, the Quality Cyclists for Quality City (QC4QC) program aimed at establishing long-term policies and plans for a genuine bicycle-friendly city. Among the activities are a weekly town hall meeting, set every Sunday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., to discuss proposed laws, and areas of cooperation such as disaster and emergency response. The bicycle group, in a post on its Facebook page, urged the cycling community, including those who are not QC residents to participate saying, “We understand the FRUSTRATIONS of the cycling community with the PAST ‘whoever’ who was doing all these ‘cycling policies’ for QC… seryosohan na ito guys (this is for real)… we would not be posting this if this was Politics as usual.” Representatives from 13 local government departments will be attending the discussions.
