WHILE the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced much of daily affairs to be done at home, it should not stop one from staying active and leading a healthy life.

It was the focus of a recent webinar by Milo Philippines, where it aimed to foster the collaboration between parents and their children in nourishing champion ambitions both in sports and in life.

The Milo Home Court Huddle, which took place on Sunday, gathered a distinguished panel of sports experts and seasoned parents to lead a discussion on the importance of staying active and healthy while at home, and how sports affects a child’s overall wellness and character formation.

It served to underscore that beyond the physical benefits that children could get from doing sports, staying active, too, would be beneficial mentally and emotionally, something that is very important right now amid prevailing conditions brought about the pandemic.

Gracing the webinar were Milo champion, Southeast Asian Games Gold Medalist, and father of two Japoy Lizardo and University of the Philippines College of Human Kinetics – Department of Sports Science Assistant Professor and Sports Psychology Consultant Mona Adviento-Maghanoy, MA Psych.

Moderating the session was celebrity mom and TV host Suzi Entrata-Abrera.

During the hour and a half webinar, the panellists shared practical tips and advice on caring for children’s holistic health while also sharing their experiences and testimonials.

Parents also got the chance to participate in the conversation through questions and queries in the comments section during the program.

“We are looking forward to encouraging and educating more parents on the role of sports and physical activity in the overall well-being and development of a child,” said Nestlé Philippines Assistant Vice-President and MILO Sports Manager Lester Castillo of the Milo Home Court Huddle.

“Faced with unique circumstances, Milo understands the challenges facing parents today. This inspired the brand to carefully pivot our longstanding sports programs from on-ground to online with our partner organizations. Through the Milo Home Court campaign, we are bringing sports closer to the homes of Filipino families amid this pandemic. Milo remains unwavering as a parents’ partner in continuing kids’ champion journeys, even at home,” he added.

Under the Milo Home Court campaign, the brand brings its signature sports clinics to the digital space with the Milo Sports Clinics Online.

The online program is available on the Milo YouTube channel where parents can find free video lessons for nine sports disciplines, namely arnis, badminton, basketball, football, gymnastics, karatedo, volleyball, taekwondo and tennis.

Homecourt also includes interactive training classes that will help kids further develop their skill sets and gain a better understanding of their strengths. These classes come with a minimal enrollment fee, and provide aspiring athletes the advantage of real-time supervision and expert assessment by the best coaches in and outside of the country.

The Milo Home Court campaign is in support of World Health Organization’s Global Recommendation on Physical Activity for Health.
