IN A NEW TV advertisement released by McDonald’s Philippines, Pinays reveal two things they have in common: the name Joy, and their love for McDonald’s Chicken McDo.
“The new and improved Chicken McDo is now made juicier and tastier with just the right crunch! Marinated, breaded and fried to a golden perfection, it will surely make every moment joyful that you would crave for it over and over again, just like the Joys featured in the TVC saying #ChickenMcMcMcDo,” McDonald’s Philippines said in a press release.
“Always served hot and fresh with the signature gravy, the Chicken McDo provides more flavorful moments spent by Joys with their families and loved ones. They couldn’t help but admit that the favorite fried chicken of Joys in the Philippines is the Chicken McDo,” the release read.
Since the ad’s online launch on April 10, it garnered 278,000 views, 4,200 reactions, and 4,400 shares on Facebook alone, in the first 48 hours. Some of the nearly 1,000 comments, at this writing, noted the jab at local chain Jollibee’s Chicken Joy.
McDonald’s Philippines will be giving Joys — as well as Jhoys, Joyces, Jois, Joyzelyns, etc. — free Chicken McDo on April 22, 3-5 p.m., at selected outlets, as long as they bring an office, school, or government-issued ID.
