AT THE MOST wonderful — and busiest — time of the year, National Book Store makes it easy for shoppers to complete their Christmas list with the store’s new look and an app that helps out with gift suggestions.

At the re-launch of its flagship store at SM North EDSA in Quezon City on Nov. 8, National Book Store (NBS) introduced its all-new modern and contemporary motif done by Hong Kong-based French designer Malherbe. The revamped store features electronic moving signs on the shelves and “experience bars” where customers can touch and feel products before purchasing them, all while the store remains spacious, neat, and organized.

“There will be a brand zone, a book zone, a kids zone, a work station zone, among other things,” National Book Store managing director Xandra Ramos-Padilla told BusinessWorld during the store’s re-opening. “National Book Store has evolved. We don’t just have books, but other product categories. We want to create a home that incorporated all of it in a seamless way. This is a result of months of planning.”

The event also highlighted varied gift selections displayed at the store such as categories for children, teen, and adult bookworms, for the free and creative spirit, for the wanderer, for the working individual, for the homemaker, and for the kids and kids-at-heart.

“We are constantly evolving and on the lookout of new products to sell. We are still related to books and learning, but going further, I think they all kind of work together. We still have the same selections. It’s just that we want our space to be more optimized,” Ms. Padilla said.

National Book Store will be also launching a “Gift Generator” app soon which can be downloaded by both iOS and Android users. The app creates gift suggestions based on the interests of the gif recipient. In addition, to make shopping more convenient, NBS now has its own delivery service.

“It’s a convenient place to find gifts for everyone on your list [this Christmas]. We have choices of books, gift items, stationary or art products, among other things. We also have a wide range of price options,” Ms. Padilla said.
