THE LIMA PARK HOTEL once again provides devotees with a unique way to observe the season of Lent through Bisikleta Iglesia 2016.
Now on its third year, Bisikleta Iglesia will be held in Batangas on March 19. The Lenten biking expedition will start at 5:30 a.m.
The bicycle tour is different in that it allows participants to show their love for nature and culture while enriching their spiritual journey. As one biker said: “This happens once a year, a small sacrifice for our faith. [We are hoping] for a safe ride for bikers for the whole year.”
The heritage and pilgrimage tour will take devotees to Sto. Niño Parish Church in Marawoy, Batangas; the Marian Orchard in Balete, Batangas; and in Lipa City, the Divino Amor Chapel (Redemptorist), the Parish of Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (famed for its mysterious rose petal shower), the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Sebastian (which serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Lipa), and, finally, the Parish of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
The registration fee P350 covers a light breakfast, a buffet lunch, a limited edition Bisikleta Iglesia shirt, and a chance to win Lima Park Hotel gift certificates.
Lima Park Hotel Resident Manager Bong Evangelista, Jr., says that this activity is also the hotel’s way of promoting eco-tourism by opting to ride bikes instead of cars. In 2015, Mr. Evangelista estimates that their group of cyclists “saved up to P10,600 worth of gasoline for 50 kilometers.”
The event is part of Bisita Batangas 2016, a program initiated by Lima Park Hotel to enhance tourism in Batangas.
Lima Park Hotel is also offering a special rate for the Holy Week. The Superior Room, which can accommodate four persons, can be booked for P2,499.
