PHL Ceramic Arts and Craft Center in Albay gets P2.3-M fund
THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry has allotted P2.3 million to the Philippines Ceramics Arts and Craft Center (PhilCeramics) in Tiwi, Albay as part of efforts to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The P2.3 million funding from the department’s regional office in Albay will be used to cover equipment outlay and other expenses of PhilCeramics and its Putsan Ceramics Manufacturers Association, Inc. (PCMAI).
“When given timely and appropriate support, MSMEs can contribute to government efforts to steer our country toward an inclusive and sustainable economic recovery,” Trade Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual said during the Bicol MSME Summit on Oct. 21.
PhilCeramics is a production center of terra cotta items with employed glazing technology. The center has been funded by the DTI since 1994.
Meanwhile, the DTI said that it seeks to pursue regional industrial development with its science, technology, and innovation-led strategy.
“This strategy will help lead MSMEs, the backbone of the Philippine economy, to greater productivity and industrial transformation,” the DTI said. — Revin Mikhael D. Ochave
