BIR Q1 collection in Cebu, Bohol up by 29%
THE BUREAU of Internal Revenue in Cebu (BIR-13) reported a 29.34% increase in its 2019 first quarter collection to P7.89 billion from P6.10 billion in the same period last year. The collection in the first three months was also higher than the P7.26 billion target, The Freeman reported. “We were able to hit our target for the first quarter of 2019,” BIR Regional Director Eduardo L. Pagulayan, Jr. said in a phone interview. “We will continue with our enforcement activities such as the Oplan Kandado, filing of criminal cases against erring taxpayers and monitoring of our taxpayers in order to hit our target for the year 2019,” he added. BIR-13, which covers Cebu and Bohol, has a target collection of P34.75 billion this year. The regional office collected P27.89 billion in taxes last year, short of its P32.04-billion goal. — The Freeman
