Bureau of Immigration (BI) logoTHE BUREAU of Immigration (BI) has arrested a Korean national wanted in his home country for swindling up to 42.2 million won (P2 million) by pretending to be a journalist. In a statement released on Tuesday, the BI said 39-year-old Yun Jung Sik, who arrived in the Philippines on Oct. 2, 2008, is set to be deported following his arrest last May 23 upon the request of the Korean Embassy in Manila. BI Spokesperson Dana M. Sandoval was cited in the statement as saying, “Yun is the subject of four outstanding arrest warrants issued by Korean courts where he was charged with defrauding large sums of money.” The statement also said Yun’s Korean passport has already expired, which means he has been illegally staying in the country as an undocumented alien. — Dane Angelo M.
