US-BASED business process outsourcing firm Research Now SSI (SSI) assured anew that the remaining employees in its Davao branch will still be under its payroll despite its being unable to operate after the New City Commercial Center (NCCC) mall burned down last Dec. 23. In a statement on Monday, SSI Chief Executive Officer Gary S. Laben said the company has also raised over $115,000 worth of financial assistance for the families of 37 deceased employees, although the company has not yet set a date when this assistance will be released. “These moves are in line with the company’s top priority of ensuring the welfare of the families of the victims and the well-being of employees, while cooperating fully with authorities in the investigation of the fire,” the statement read. Likewise, the firm promised that it will help employees find new employment while continuing the reimbursement and counseling process. — Anna Gabriela A. Mogato
