JAYLEN BROWN scored 32 points while leading the Boston Celtics to a 120-95 victory over the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Derrick White made seven of 12 3-point attempts and added 25 points for the Celtics, who had a 55-38 edge in rebounding. Jayson Tatum contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds but had a poor shooting night. Mr. Tatum went seven of 19 from the field, including 0-for-5 from 3-point territory.
Boston’s Payton Pritchard logged 16 points, Jrue Holiday had 14 points and Luke Kornet grabbed 10 rebounds.
Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell led all scorers with 33 points. Mr. Mitchell also had six rebounds and five assists.
The Cavaliers received 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds from Evan Mobley. Darius Garland finished with 14 points, and Isaac Okoro had 11.
Game 2 in the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Thursday in Boston. — Reuters
