THE Department of National Defense (DND) said it will co-develop airports in Laoag, Vigan, Cotabato and Tawi-Tawi as part of a joint venture with the Department of Transportation (DoTr).
The DND did not explain its intended purpose for entering into the joint venture, which will have a budget of P688 million. The agreement was signed by Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana and his counterpart at the DoTR, Arthur P. Tugade.
The funding will cover the asphalt overlay for the runway and a grade correction for Laoag International Airport in Ilocos Norte, the extension of the runway in Vigan Airport in Ilocos Sur, the asphalt overlay of the runway in Cotabato Airport in Maguindanao, and construction of a perimeter fence and embankment at Sanga-Sanga Airport in Tawi-Tawi. — Vince Angelo C.
