MO_Space X
MO_Space presents Fresh Cut, New Blood, an exhibit of works by Jan Balquin, Dina Gadia, Jacob Lindo, Carina Santos, and Jel Suarez, curated by Gary-Ross Pastrana. The exhibit features both new works in collage and exercises done from a set of instructions as influenced by the artists’ teacher, Roberto Chabet. The exhibition runs from Aug. 5 to Sept. 3. The exhibit is part of MO_Space X, a series of shows that celebrates the gallery’s 10 years of activities since its opening in 2007.
Art & Family
THE Ayala Museum presents an exhibition of 19th century paintings, illustrations, and sculptures by the preeminent Filipino artists of the time, the brothers Justiniano, Leoncio, and Mariano Asuncion. Entitled Art and Family: The Asuncion Legacy, the exhibit will be on display at the museum’s 3rd floor Galleries from Aug. 8 to Jan. 14. Selected works include paintings and sculptures, miniatures, medallions, portraits, and watercolor illustrations. Talks and activities will be scheduled during the exhibition run and will be announced through Ayala Museum’s Web site and social media channels.
Elements of dance
THE five elements of dance — body shapes, movement, space, time, and energy — are the focus of Unboxed, a dance production thesis under the Bachelor of Performing Arts Dance Program of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB). Performances are on Aug. 4 and 5, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Black Box Theater, DLS-CSB, 950 Pablo Ocampo Street, Malate, Manila. Directed by Mara Aboitiz-Francisco, it features professional dancer Ina Medina, DLS-CSB scholars Olivia Bugayong, Jireh Cariaso, and Kul dela Torre.
