Shark Week returns
SHARK AFTER DARK, Shark Week’s late-night talk show returns for five consecutive nights with host Eli Roth. This marks the first time that Shark Week will premiere around the world in the same week — on the Discovery Channel starting July 24 at 8:10 p.m. and continuing through July 28. Celebrating its 29th anniversary, this year Shark Week presents: Shark School with Michael Phelps where the swimmer joins scientists to get a crash course on everything “shark”; Great White Shark Serial Killer Lives, where shark experts use satellite tags and DNA technology to look into biannual shark attacks at a secluded California beach; Shark-Croc Showdown, a visit to the Australia’s Cobourg Peninsula where sharks and crocs fight over sea turtles; Shark Vortex, a look at the annual summer spectacle when the Gulf Stream brings 30 species of shark to the waters of New England; Sharks and the City: LA, which looks into why great white sharks are increasing and hunting out of season along the coastline of LA; Sharks and the City: New York, which asks if great whites will return since now that the seals are back in New York Harbor; The Lost Cage, a team of explorers float in a one-of-a-kind shark cage in the Gulf of Mexico to lure its deadliest shark; Great Hammerhead Invasion, a look at the yearly convention of hammerheads in the Bahamas; Phelps vs. Shark: Great Gold vs. Great White, the world’s most decorated athlete takes on the ocean’s most efficient predator; and, Shark Swarm, a study into shark “societies.”
Oishi Snacktacular 2017
THIS YEAR’S Oishi Snacktacular 2017 will be at the Festival Mall, Alabang from July 28-30. This year, Make Your Own Snack gives visitors a chance to choose a dip (or two) to try with the different Oishi snacks. O-Twirl is also offering something new to Oishi’s soft served ice cream. Returning are the games Cuckoo Blaster and Oishi Snack Catcher. Then there is the Snack Shack booth where visitors can fill up a two-foot Giant Pack in 60 seconds. Celebrities Alex Gonzaga, Maine Mendoza, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo will be there.
