Typhoon signal #1 up in 15 provinces due to typhoon Jenny
THE LOW pressure area that developed Monday into a tropical depression, named Jenny, is bringing rains in the eastern side of the country and 15 provinces in Luzon have been placed under typhoon signal #1 as of Monday afternoon. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, weather bureau PAGASA declared the warning signal over: Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet Aurora, Nueva Ecija, eastern portion of Pangasinan, northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Island, and Catanduanes. PAGASA said other parts of Luzon, Western and Central Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula are expected to have light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains between Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday. Jenny, as of Monday afternoon, was moving northwest at 25 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph. The typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine area by Thursday.
