SOUTH KOREA is eyeing expanded cooperation with the Philippines in the areas of energy, infrastructure and defense, the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines said in a statement last week.

Speaker Kim Jin Pyo of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea will be on a three-day visit to the Philippines starting on July 23 as part of efforts to boost ties between the two countries, it added.

Mr. Kim will visit the Libingan ng mga Bayani for a wreath-laying ceremony at the Korean Memorial Pylon on Monday. He will also meet with Philippines Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.
