P77-M NDRRMC command center for Mindanao being built in Butuan City
A TWO-STOREY command center for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), with an allocation of P77 million, is now being built in Barangay Bancasi, Butuan City. “This facility will be spacious enough to house massive leaders’ conference during high-level disaster circumstances,” said Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations in Mindanao Maximo L. Carvajal in a statement. DPWH, in partnership with the Office of Civil Defence (OCD), is in charge of the project construction. The state-of-the-art Government Command and Control Center (GCCC) is intended to strengthen disaster risk reduction efforts in Mindanao. “It is also strategically located near Bancasi Airport and is very close to the disaster-resilient warehouse and the PAGASA-DOST satellite office to ensure access and close coordination with vital agencies during calamities,” Mr. Carvajal said. The GCCC is scheduled for completion within 540 calendar days.
