THE JUDICIAL and Bar Council (JBC) has set for public interview on Feb. 13 four applicants for the Supreme Court (SC) associate justice position vacated by now Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin. Scheduled for interview are Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justices Henri Jean Paul B. Inting, Jhosep Y. Lopez and Nina G. Antonio-Valenzuela, and Court of Tax Appeals Presiding Judge Roman G. del Rosario. From 22 applicants, the JBC chose 20 who qualified for the SC position. The 16 others whose previous public interviews remain valid are: CA Associate Justices Ramon M. Bato, Jr., Apolinario D. Brusales, Jr., Ramon A. Cruz, Stephen C. Cruz, Edgardo L. Delos Santos, Japar B. Dimaampao, Ramon R. Garcia, Amy C. Lazaro-Javier, Mario V. Lopez, Eduardo B. Peralta, Jr., Ricardo R. Rosario, and Oscar V. Badelles; Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo M. Cabotaje-Tang, and Associate Justice Efren N. de la Cruz; former Ateneo Law dean Cesar L. Villanueva; and SC Court Administrator Jose Midas P. Marquez. Those who did not make the cut are Bureau of Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Lanee Cui-David, and Jeremy I. Gatdula, a member of the academe.
