THE LOW pressure area (LPA) located east of Surigao City in Mindanao as of Tuesday early morning developed into a tropical depression, with assigned name Domeng, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Domeng, spotted 675 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar in the Visayas as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, is not expected to make landfall, the weather bureau said, “but may trigger strong southwesterly windflow, which will bring occasional moderate to heavy rains over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas this weekend.” Meanwhile, PAGASA spotted another LPA 1,193 kms east of Luzon.
