STATE-RUN Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has partnered with energy infrastructure firm PT Esyasoft Technologies Asia to deploy advanced energy systems, including battery storage, across the BCDA’s properties, including New Clark City in Tarlac.
BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua M. Bingcang and Esyasoft Technologies Southeast Asia Chief Executive Officer Madhusudan Sreedharan signed a memorandum of understanding on April 27 to formalize the partnership, the BCDA said in a statement on Monday.
Esyasoft has agreed to develop and deploy Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in New Clark City and other BCDA sites.
The technology is expected to enhance grid stability, strengthen energy security, optimize energy use, and support the wider integration of renewable energy sources, the BCDA said.
For its part, the BCDA will prepare feasibility studies covering the technical and commercial viability of Esyasoft’s proposed investment.
Other than BESS, Esyasoft specializes in other smart energy solutions, including electric mobility; software, analytics, and artificial intelligence; and energy-as-a-service.
Esyasoft’s Mr. Sreedharan noted that its investment in the BCDA aligns with global demand for smart energy and battery energy storage.
The Middle East crisis continues to introduce volatility to the global oil supply and prices, raising demand for renewable energy solutions.
At the end of 2025, renewable energy accounted for 25% of the Philippine power mix.
The Department of Energy has targeted to raise the share of renewable energy in the power generation mix to 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040. — Beatriz Marie D. Cruz
