Former national security adviser Jose Roilo S. Golez passed away on Monday morning, June 11. He was 71.
The former Parañaque representative and National Security adviser during the Arroyo administration died of heart attack, according to House Majority leader Rodolfo C. Fariñas.
“It is with sadness that I post here that Danny Suarez just called me with the information that our former colleague, ROILO “ROY” GOLEZ, passed away due to heart attack. May his soul Rest In Peace!” Mr. Farinas shared with reporters in a phone message.
Golez had always supported calls for the assertion of the Philippines’ sovereign rights over the West Philippine Sea (WPS). He was last heard in an interview over DzRH on the subject. — Charmaine A. Tadalan
