A QUANTUM Films release, Ilawod is a horror story about what happens when a reporter accidentally invites the ilawod — a water spirit — into his home where it attaches to his son. Directed by Dan Villegas, it stars Ian Veneracion, Iza Calzado, and Xyriel Manabat.

A VIVA Films horror movie, directed by Pedring Lopez, Darkroom revolves around a group on friends who shoot a documentary in an abandoned — and haunted — house. The film stars AJ Muhlach, Caleb Santos, Ella Cruz, and Bret Jackson.

Ballerina (Leap!)
AN ANIMATED film about a poor orphan girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina and gets a chance to audition for the celebrated school of the Paris Opera Ballet, the animated feature is very popular with the critics on the Rotten Tomatoes review aggregate site which gave it a score of 87%.Directed by Éric Warin and Eric Summer, it features the voices of Dane DeHaan, Elle Fanning, and Maddie Ziegler. “Ballet is all about making the body achieve amazing feats seemingly effortlessly, and the animation replicates that with often sublime effect,” writes Nick Dent of the Daily Telegraph.

Live By Night
NOT POPULAR with the critics on film aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, which gave Live By Night a Tomatometer score of just 33%, Ben Affleck writes, produces, and stars in this adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s crime novel centering on the prodigal son of a prominent police chief, and his descent into the criminal underworld. The film also stars Brendan Gleeson and Elle Fanning. David Edelstein of New York Magazine/Vulture wrote: “You probably won’t turn it off when it comes on cable. But the material needs to be bigger, more momentous, as well as more intimate.”
