Malacañang tells CHR head to ‘name names’ of those mocking human rights
MALACAÑANG HAS challenged Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Commissioner Roberto Eugenio T. Cadiz to name the lawyers who, he said, are mocking the rule of law and human rights. “It’s curious that CHR Commissioner Cadiz said that lawyers are mocking the law and human rights… So I’d like to challenge Commissioner Cadiz, name names,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry L. Roque said on Tuesday, Nov. 21, in a press briefing in Malacañang. “Who is the lawyer who he alleges to be making a mockery out of the rule of law and human rights? And who are the lawyers assisting this main lawyer whom he says is mocking human rights and the rule of law?” he added. Mr. Cadiz, in a speech before lawyers on Monday, also criticized President Rodrigo R. Duterte for his war on drugs and called him an advocate of extrajudicial killings. — Rosemarie A. Zamora
