Jeep Wrangler Rubicon makes Philippine debut
INCHCAPE PHILIPPINES, country distributor of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM Trucks through IC Automotive, Inc., brings the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon into the country.
In a release, Inchcape Philippines said that the SUV is the “most off-road capable and recognized SUV in the world,” and builds on its history with an “unmatched combination of off-road capability, authentic Jeep design, open-air freedom, advanced powertrains, superior on- and off-road dynamics, and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology features.”
It bears the trademark seven-slot Jeep grille, flanked by automatic LED premium reflector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps. The headlights feature off time delay, and are supplemented with LED front lamps. The Wrangler Rubicon gets a new infotainment system, bigger tires, upgraded off-road features, luxurious and premium seats, and enhanced safety features. The vehicle is positioned as an off-roader that can be used as a daily driver.
On both sides, the model sports the classic Wrangler design elements such as a Rubicon hood decal, red and gray Jeep badge, Wrangler decal, and “Trail Rated” badge. The Rubicon exclusively features power heated mirrors; while in its rear are LED taillamps and full-size spare tire. An integrated antenna is in its Corning Gorilla Glass windshield. To let occupants experience open-air riding and driving, the black three-piece hard top may be removed.
The new Wrangler Rubicon is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Maximum power is 268hp at 5,250rpm and peak torque is 400Nm at 3,000rpm.
The model is loaded with 4×4 features and heavy-duty components such as a new 4:1 Rock-Trac HD Fulltime 4WD System, Dana M220 Wide Full-Floating Rear Axle, Dana M210 Wide Heavy-Duty Tube Front Axle, e-locker for front and rear axles, 4:10 rear axle ratio, front disconnecting stabilizer bar, performance suspension, high-clearance fender flares, rock-protection sill rails, skid plates, aux switches, integrated off-road camera with integrated washer, and front and rear tow hooks.
It gets 17-inch black aluminum wheels wrapped in 285/70 33-inch all-terrain tires.
All Jeep Wranglers are “awarded” with a Trail Rated badge, denoting that they have all been tested for their ability to maneuver well on trails with obstacles and rough terrain. The new Jeep Wrangler is said to excel in the five following 4×4 key areas: water fording, ground clearance, articulation, maneuverability, and traction.
Inside, the Wrangler Rubicon features leather upholstery. Its driver and passenger seats get Nappa leather, and are 12-way power-adjustable. The new model sports a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen — the “most advanced and largest display ever offered on Wrangler.” It houses a fifth-generation, award-winning Uconnect 5 system that sits atop the center stack.
Aside from delivering faster performance compared to the previous generation, the Uconnect 5 is said to offer more features as well such as wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Google Android Auto, GPS navigation, off-road information, five user profiles plus a valet mode, fully customizable home screen, and Bluetooth connectivity that allows the connection of up to two phones. The system is hooked up to a nine-speaker Alpine sound system.
Functionality is enhanced for front-row passengers with standard USB Type C ports that allow devices to charge up to four times faster. Standard 12-volt accessory outlets are also found in the center console and cargo area of the new Wrangler. In front of the driver is a seven-inch TFT color display instrument cluster. Its safety and security features include first- and second-row side curtain air bags, which complement standard driver and passenger front air bags, and front seat-mounted driver and passenger side air bags. Driver-assistive components are adaptive cruise control with stop, Selec-Speed Control, advanced brake assist, electronic roll mitigation, anti-lock four-wheel FNC disc HD brakes, electronic stability control, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus, hill start assist, traction control, trailer sway damping, blind spot monitoring, ParkSense Rear Park Assist System, and ParkView Rear Backup Camera.
The model is available at any of the five Jeep dealerships in Alabang, Cebu, Clark, Greenhills, and San Fernando.
