MINI Philippines at the Mini Festival 2018 held last weekend displayed a Mini Cooper S Monte Carlo Edition, which the local distributor said will be sold through online store Lazada.
All 20 units of the Mini Cooper S Monte Carlo Edition that have been allocated to the Philippines are set to become the first cars, whether new or used, to be sold on Lazada. The cars will be available at the store on Nov. 11 when Lazada holds its 11.11 sale event.
The Mini Cooper S Monte Carlo Edition honors the Mini Coopers that competed — and won — the Monte Carlo Rally in the mid-1960s. As such, it only comes in red (with a white roof), which is marked by a special livery. Customers are offered three choices with regards to the number on the car’s door — 37, 87, 177, which are those used on the works cars.
Inscribed on the door sill plates of the Monte Carlo Edition is “1 of 20,” identifying the car is earmarked for the Philippines. Further distinguishing this special Cooper S are an aero kit and front seats taken from the model’s John Cooper Works high-performance variant, as well as a set of auxiliary lamps. — B. M. Afuang
