KEEP YOUR camping gear and your superhero alter-ego at the ready as Ayala-owned Alviera in Porac, Pampanga is preparing a camping weekend especially for superhero enthusiasts.
Slated on Oct. 15-16, the so-called Hero Camp will be featuring several activities at the SandBox Adventure Park including “a hero training crash course, superhero movies under the night sky, stargazing with astronomers,” according to a press release.
“[This is] the newest edition of the signature family camping event of Alviera,” said Leo Grape, Alviera project development associate manager, during the launch on Sept. 8 at Sentro 1771 restaurant in Makati City.
Alviera is a 1,100-hectare mixed-use development which will be home to several residential projects including Ayala’s own Avida and Alveo, but while the residential part of the development is still getting off the ground, Alviera’s SandBox Adventure Park has been open for two years. Its attractions include a rollercoaster zipline, a 10 meter-high giant swing, an adventure tower complete with wall climbing and rappelling activities, and an aerial walk obstacle course, among others.
And for those who are keen to join in the fun, two packages are available: the Day Adventurer package (P2,100) and the Weekend Camper package (P2,950) — which will include a tent (without bedding) and buffet breakfast. Both packages include access to four SandBox attractions and participation in the various themed activities.
Day activities include a class and demonstration of basic self-defense moves, a costume-crafting corner, and a monster archery obstacle course. For those who are staying the night, there are a couple more activities in store including a parade of heroes where participants dress up in costumes and trick-or-treat at participating booths, a stargazing activity, and a movie screening.
Weekend campers will also have access to SandBox attractions. It has extended its operating hours and is now open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during weekends.
Note that according to Mr. Grape, the camp site can only accommodate 300, people but the park can accommodate up to 1,500. Also, cooking is prohibited but there are food concessionaires on site. There are also ample shower rooms and toilets.
The Hero Camp packages can be bought from the Travel Factor Web site (travelfactor.org/alvieraherocamp). Part of the proceeds will be donated to the HERO Foundation which provide educational assistance to the children and dependent siblings of soldiers who died in the line of duty. — Zsarlene B. Chua
