PHILIPPINE President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has declared December 26 of this year as a special non-working holiday, extending the Christmas weekend for Filipino families to celebrate the blessed season.

Under Proclamation No. 425 signed on Tuesday, Mr. Marcos said the longer weekend would “encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationships, leading to a better society.”

December 25, Christmas Day and a regular holiday, falls on a Monday.
