Lang-Ay Festival
MOUNTAIN PROVINCE is celebrating its 52nd anniversary and the 15th Lang-Ay Festival on April 1-8, highlighting the culture and traditions of its 10 towns. “This is something good that we have to support, that we have to sustain, for my children, our children. We should not lose this because we have inherited our culture from our ancestors and it is during Lang-ay where we can show that our way of life is still alive,” Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. said in a statement. This year’s festivities, with the theme “Nurturing Culture and Traditions Through Indigenous Peoples Education,” includes an agricultural trade fair, musical performances, a local history quiz bee, and a street-dance parade. The Lang-ay festival committee said the events are intended to deepen understanding and appreciation of the province’s heritage and evolving culture. Mt. Province is composed of the capital Bontoc, Barlig, Bauko, Besao, Natonin, Paracelis, Sabangan, Sadanga, Sagada and Tadian.
