1st free TECH4ED station opens in Tagum City
THE FIRST of three TECH4ED Centers — a facility with computers, internet service, and training area — was opened by the Tagum City government on Dec. 18, located at the Center of Justice Building. The center, which can be used for free from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, is primarily intended to benefit students under the Alternative Learning System (ALS). In a statement, the city government said the other two TECH4ED stations will be set up at the soon-to-open new public library and the Palengskwelahan building near the public market. The project is being handled by the city’s Public Education and Employment Services Office (PEESO) in partnership with the Department of Information and Communication Technology. PEESO said the idea comes from the Philippine Community e-Center program, which is a National Digital Inclusion initiative.
