Apo Cement per bag price up P10 in Visayas on back of supplier woes
APO CEMENT Corp. has announced a P10 increase in the per bag price of its cement products starting Nov. 19, citing higher procurement cost following the suspension of its main supplier APO Land & Quarry Corporation (ALQC). In a statement Sunday evening, APO Cement said the price hike will cover Cebu and other parts of the Visayas. “APO Cement’s production costs have suddenly gone up which has significantly impacted its operations. This is due to the fact that it now has to outsource raw materials from different areas in the country and abroad with the continued suspension of its main supplier of raw materials,” the company said. ALQC has been ordered to stop operations after the September landslides in Naga City that killed more than 70 and displaced thousands. “Moving forward, APO Cement and ALQC will continue to engage various national agencies to express the challenges that their companies are currently facing. In the hope that appropriate support shall be extended by the government,” APO Cement said.
