The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has ordered the demolition of illegal structures built on Wetland No. 6 as part of the ongoing rehabilitation of resort island Boracay. The proliferation of illegal settlers at the wetland has turned its waters filthy, with the Environmental Management Bureau’s sampling indicating “very high concentration of fecal coliform, a bacteria from human waste.”
