Plant cash crops instead of marijuana, Roque tells Mountain Province folk
PRESIDENTIAL SPOKESPERSON Harry L. Roque, Jr. on Tuesday warned the residents of Mountain Province who are still planting marijuana. “There are so many cash crops which can be used by farmers as alternative to marijuana. Do not wait for you to get imprisoned for a lifetime,” he said in a press conference in the town of Bontoc. He stressed that President Rodrigo R. Duterte is against the legalization of marijuana. The government, he added, will continue its fight against illegal drugs “before considering medical properties of marijuana.”
DIALYSIS CENTER
Meanwhile, Malacañang announced on Tuesday that the Mountain Province Dialysis Center at the Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital in Bauko town is “now in full operation.” Mr. Roque said, “Patients in the province and the nearby towns of Ilocos Sur and Kalinga were no longer need to go to Baguio City or La Trinidad for their dialysis treatment.” Mr. Roque said this is part of the Duterte administration’s effort “to provide the much-needed medical and health services to every Filipino… especially to the underserved and underprivileged members of our society.” — Arjay L.
