Members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Cuyo Station catch five large-scale fishing vessels with 50 crew on board off Magsaysay, Palawan on May 28 following a report by a resident of the town. The boats were using “superlights,” which is prohibited within the designated 15-kilometer municipal waters. The vessels were also found to be in violation of the required Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan. Charges will be filed by the PCG in coordination with the Magsaysay local government.
