Malacañang on Saturday, Sept. 30, confirmed U.S President Donald J. Trump’s visit in the Philippines in November.

“We confirm US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Philippines this November,” Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto C. Abella said in a statement.

Mr. Abella said Mr. Trump will be joining the 31st ASEAN meeting scheduled on November 13-15, with the Philippines as the host country this year.

“President Trump will join other world leaders who will attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) / East Asian Summit in the Philippines.”

“President Trump’s visit underscores the improving PH-US ties and President Duterte is looking forward to welcoming the US President in Manila,” Mr. Abella added.

In 2016, Mr. Duterte and Mr. Trump had a phone call wherein Mr. Duterte congratulated the latter on his victory in the U.S presidential election.

Last April, the two leaders already had their second phone call in which Mr. Trump said he wanted to develop a “warm, working relationship” with Mr. Duterte.

To recall, Mr. Duterte lambasted the US government when then US president Barrack H. Obama, Jr. criticized his war on drugs.

The U.S government continuously supporting the Philippines in its fight against ISIS-inspired Maute terrorists and donated P730 M for the rehabilitation of Marawi City.

“As host country, we hope to make the event productive and pleasant to our foreign guests.  We will let them experience our world-famous Filipino hospitality to make sure they would have good memories of their stay in the Philippines,” Mr. Abella said of the upcoming Asian regional event with Mr. Trump.
