NINE MEMBERS of the communist New People’s Army (NPA), who are trained to make and use powerful roadside bombs, surrendered to the military on Sunday. The rebels turned themselves in to the Army’s 33rd Infantry Battalion in Barangay Malegdeg in Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat. They also surrendered six newly assembled improvised explosive devices, “subversive” documents, medical supplies, and lists of traders from whom they were to collect “protection money.” — philstar.com
