LRTA buys train driving simulator for LRT-2 operators
The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced it had acquired a train driving simulator, a technology said to control risks and reduce accidents in the Land Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 System.
“The new simulator virtually reproduced the entire topography of LRT-2 including the line signaling, the passenger stations, as well as the landscape of Metro Manila — bringing simulator users into a virtual world that imitates the real image of the elevated line system,” LRTA said in a press release with the Department of Transportation.
It said the simulator will be used for training operators as it will let the user get a feel of driving the train by providing a driver’s view and allowing realistic controls of the doors, pneumatics, electricals and signaling systems of the LRT. — Denise A. Valdez
