ONE of the leading faces of 3×3 basketball, Dusan Bulut and his Serbian team are happy to have been doing their fair share in the development and promotion of the growing sport and look to build on it moving forward.
The defending champion in the ongoing FIBA 3×3 World Cup that is happening at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, Mr. Bulut, 32, said it has always been his goal as well as his team’s to be the best at what they are doing.
While there are teams that are good and still improving in 3×3 all over the world, they remain committed at what they are doing and determined to stay on top of their game.
“Essentially our goal is to be the best at what we do, “ said the Serbian star, currently the number one player in 3×3 men’s play in the FIBA rankings, when asked by BusinessWorld for his thoughts on the kind of mind-set they have and key to the success they have been having in 3×3.
And success has come foremost for the Serbs in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, where they have been the winningest team, being the champions in three of the first four editions of the tournament — 2012, 2016 and 2017.
In the ongoing 3×3 World Cup in Bulacan, the defending champions are continuing to make waves.
Serbia is the lone undefeated team in Pool A in group play with a 2-0 record as of this writing and primed for another stint in the knockout rounds with two games to play yesterday.
“We are happy with how 3×3 is growing globally and the role we have played in it,” said Mr. Bulut, who is averaging 7.5 points in group play so far.
“But we know when we finished our career, other players would come in and build on it. Which will be good for 3×3,” he added.
