GLORIETTA’S facelifted food court, Food Choices, is changing expectations of what a mall food court should be like.

The newly renovated Food Choices (which has not been touched since its 1998 opening) was opened last week after being closed down in January. It now features neon signs, a more spacious layout, better lighting (perfect for Instagram), and a more chic appearance.

“We wanted people to feel that it’s a place where you can chill first,” said Glorietta’s Marketing Manager, Jara Lucero.

They’ve retained 35% of the old vendors, which would include familiar bestsellers such as Reyes BBQ, El Presidente of Binondo, and World Chicken. Sixty-five percent of the vendors are new, such as Birdhouse and Peppy Olive. There are more than 30 vendors in Food Choices, offering a diverse range of cuisines from Mediterranean and Middle Eastern to Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine.

“Of course, we had to consider what the market wanted and needed,” said Ms. Lucero. By this she meant the various people who step in and out of Glorietta every day: students, families, employees, and even people quickly popping in before a movie.

“I think it was about time to undergo that redevelopment here in Glorietta; to adjust the different needs also in the market. This is actually the first step,” she said.

The Activity Center, since closed, will reopen in about a month, and Ms. Lucero said to expect more changes, such as in the hallways, the surrounding parks, and even the façade.

“It’s about time, and we really want to give that look of a refreshed Glorietta, to make it better: everyone’s changing also.”
