Cinematography lecture
DIRECTOR and cinematographer Mark Gary, who has an extensive background in television, and has been cited for several award-winning music videos, short and feature-length films, will conduct a lecture-demo entitled Alt-Photo: Video Documentation of Performing Arts at the Multimedia Room of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Aug. 10, 3 p.m. The seminar will highlight the use of videos for promotion, archiving, employing it as part of the performance, and using it as a substitute of the live show to reach a larger audience. The lecture is part of the public programs of MCAD Manila’s current exhibition, Re-enactments which runs until Sept. 10. The lecture is free and open to the public. Cyborg at AsiaPOP Comicon
AMONG THE featured guests at the AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2017 (APCC Manila) will be American actor Ray Fisher who plays Cyborg in the film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and the upcoming movie Justice League. Fisher will be the first Hollywood celebrity headliner to attend the pop culture event which is slated from Aug. 25 to 27 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Meanwhile, APCC Manila also announced the second batch of globally recognized artists who will showcase their works and share their talents during the convention. These include Whilce Portacio, Carl Potts, Shoji Kawamori, and Serena Kozuki. Returning to APCC Manila is Filipino-American comic book artist and writer Whilce Portacio. Netflix’s Chinese show
INTERNET TV network Netflix, has announced its first Chinese language Netflix original series from Taiwan: Bardo. The eight-episode series is a jailbreak thriller with a karmic dimension, and it will be available to all Netflix members around the world at the same time. Netflix is teaming up with award-winning production company IFA Media and writer/director Sam Quah on Bardo. IFA Media recently produced the highly regarded Taiwanese series The Teenage Psychic and Quah is a rising Taiwan-based writer-director whose short film The Free Man was short-listed for an Oscar in 2015.
